Choose The Perfect Background Colour
There are no hard-and-fast rules when choosing a background colour for your pet’s portrait. The trick is to bring your pet to life by using a colour that artistically compliments the subject. Together we can decide on the best background, but remember it is your portrait and will be hanging on your wall. Whatever you decide, please don’t try to match the portrait to your décor – I’m sure you didn’t get a pet to match the furniture!
Rich Greens & Blues
Blue or green backgrounds are a popular choice. This palette brings the outdoors inside and works for most pets.
Pastels & Muted
You may be after a softer, muted tone in your portrait. These colours work well with cute, toy dogs, or kittens and puppies.
Brights
A fun bright colour will make any pet stand out. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it’s bound to make a statement!
Earth Tones & Browns
This is probably the most commonly used palette. From beige to burnt umber, these colours are a good choice for more traditional portraits.
Black & Neutrals
For portraits that pack-a-punch, you can’t go past black. Greys are more subdued but will still result in a sophisticated finish.
